Mountain View/Sheep Creek
RULES AND REGULATIONS OF FISHING AND CAMPING
SET BY THE SHOSHONE-PAIUTE TRIBES
Fisheries:
There are three reservoirs and a reach of the Owyhee River that are open to angling at certain times of the year. Please see the map to identify the fisheries and landmarks of the Reservation. Fishing is allowed on all portions of the reservoirs except the inlet canals and spillways.Seasons and time:
All fisheries can only be fished from two hours before sunrise until one hour past sunset.Mountain View Reservoir: Open year round
Sheep Creek Reservoir: Open from April 1 to October 31
Gear:
General regulations for all fisheries allow for fish to be caught with closely attended hook, line rod, and reel in the manner known as angling. However, there are some differences between the reservoirs.Mountain View and Sheep Creek Reservoirs: These two reservoirs are open to the general public and one or two poles (with appropriate permit) may be used. Single and treble hooks are allowed. Any artificial lure, fly, or bait may be used but no live baits may be used with the exceptions of earthworms and salmon eggs.
Harvest/Size Limits:
The Department manages Sheep Creek and Mountain View as Rainbow Trout fisheries. There is no limit on any other species of fish (yellow perch, bass, chubs) and we would appreciate it if you would not return these species back into the reservoirs.
Rainbow Trout: Adults are allowed to harvest 5 trout on a daily basis. However, adults are allowed to only retain 10 trout in possession. Children under 12 years old may harvest 4 trout daily and have 8 in possession. There are no size limits for these reservoirs. Trout of any size may be harvested.
